Teach, tailor, take control

The Challenger model, inside a real clinic

Relationships open the door. Insight is what keeps it open.

A well-known study of sales reps found the top performers did three things. They taught the customer something new, tailored it to that customer, and took control of the next step. The research was in business-to-business selling, but it translates straight into a clinic.

  • Teach: bring the doctor something useful about his patients, not a repeat of the detail.
  • Tailor: frame it around the patients he actually sees.
  • Take control: agree one clear next step and come back to check it.

Control does not mean pressure. It means you lead the conversation calmly instead of waiting for the doctor to end it.

And challenge the habit, never the person. The doctor's judgement is his to keep.

“Be the rep who brings an insight, not the rep who repeats a detail.”
